Jul. 15th, 2003 03:55 pmThings I hate about sales, in no particular order:
#1: having to be obsequious to people who are testy at you for no particular reason. "Oh, I'm sorry I actually tried to sell you our books. What was I thinking -- that an adult romance store might be interested in carrying our award-winning erotica? Silly me. You're right, I'm bad and intrusive and naughty. I should have waited for you to contact me -- of course, up until this moment you didn't know we even existed, so I might have spent my time better farming cobwebs. But you're right, it was shameful behavior on my part. I'll go slink off under my rock now."
I vow to be nice to a telemarketer soon. (Of course, I may never speak to one again, between the new registry and caller ID.) I already try to be courteous, but this calls for extra measures.
