That's one of the few (and maybe only) cases in which I'm okay with the idea of being kept alive by artificial means, especially if the father of the child is still alive (and someone I'm actually in a relationship with and not a rapist). (Of course, if I had my druthers (and medical insurance) I'd just have my tubes tied.)
I got no problem with other people doing it -- I don't think this is an ethical issue, in other words -- but it totally, utterly creeps me out to think of me, myself, being brain-dead but kept alive as an incubator.
totally creepy - isn't a major part of a baby's development in the womb, with input from a CONSCIOUS mother? Might as well be hatched in a petri dish -- wonder whether this will have any effect on the child?
OTOH, I would have been better if my father had been brain dead and only used for reproduction and allowed to die after we were all conceived.
OK, this is really creepy. And it leads me to think of the logical next step: Why not just keep a woman alive and re-inseminate her. After all, if she expressed a desire for a large family, don't we owe it to her? And her parents, who want to be grandparents? And her husband, who after all needs an heir.
