Did I mention that just before we went over to drop off the deposit check yesterday, my second-choice apartment called and said we'd been approved too? That was such a pretty place as well, and the cats would have loved the long row of big south-facing windows edging the living room. It was in Fruitvale, which I know some people think is an iffy neighborhood, but this particular spot, around 19th and Fruitvale, seemed fine.

[livejournal.com profile] imnotandrei turns out to prefer more cave-like ambience, though; I think this was his third-choice place. (I am a Leo; I need at least some light. Like the cats. If it stays outdoors, though, that's fine.) We also liked the place in El Cerrito del Norte with a cute little back patio just off the dining nook, but someone had already applied for that space by last Wednesday, so I didn't expect to get it.

I didn't expect to get either of them, actually.

All three had two bedrooms and parking. Wow.

Even after we put down the deposit, Steven and I had two appointments to look at places in the city. We decided to keep them just because. We made the right decision, but it was fun to see the place at 26th Ave and Irving, with huge closets and a lovely Art Deco building, and the place just on the other side of Precita Park with the fantastic back yard space. I think it's helped us make our peace with moving out of the city.

Now, crossed fingers for the closing Tuesday. We're starting to sort through our stuff and get rid of things we don't want to haul with us across the Bay. I confess to sorta liking this process.

Someone is going to eat my head if I don't go deal with lunch.
