I don't understand the Berkeley Bowl

Last week, they lacked any sort of olive oil I was used to using, except for Colavita in small, small bottles.

Today they had both Stutz Mediterranean in bottles, and Liohori organic olive oil in tins.

I'd already bought the Stutz elsewhere, but my need for a big tin of olive oil has been unexpectedly alleviated. Really, all I went in for was some greens and a Delicata squash...

(and marjoram, which was missing from the farmer's market this week.)

I also came the closest I've ever come to ramming someone with my shopping cart. It's OK to stand in the middle of the aisle, loudly discussing plum ripeness issues with someone who may or may not be an employee -- but it is not cool to give me a dirty look when I say "excuse me."

Obviously, he only shops there on the weekdays, because weekend Bowl warriors would have mowed him down without a second thought.

I remember the old Bowl. In brief spurts. It got to the point where (when we lived in SF) I had to be bribed with a trip to Comics Experience or Dark Carnival so I'd have something to read while partner and friends went in; I could take it for about five-ten minutes, tops.

Was I *ever* glad it moved.

I did go to the old one more than a few times. Unlike imnotandrei, I kinda liked it. Though I never, ever used a cart. That seemed like suicide.

I think the run on olive oil must have been due to weekend grocery madness and no more, or else only one brand would have been missing, I would think. But who knows. It is a mystery unfathomable to me.

I don't ram other people's carts at the bowl; but after the second "Excuse me!" I have been known to move their carts myself.

In your situation I would have said something. Something like, "You're blocking the aisle, you clueless moron!"
