I think it's the preponderance of sweet vegetables that's confounding my meal-planning efforts. Tomatoes. Red bell peppers. Squash. With only the arugula as a foil.

I need to offset all that sweet stuff with something. Like bacon, say.

Like tomato soup with bacon, and arugula salad? And apple crisp for dessert.

I think I will need more greens to plate beside the big Delicata squash, which I more or less intend to bake and eat. I'm sure I'll add a seasoning of some sort, but I'm not sure what.

That's two meals. A good start.

We ate up all the pistachios last night, watching Rabbit-Proof Fence.

Toasted hazelnuts? Homemade cheese crackers? Pecorino sardo fiore?

Homemade cheese crackers sound delicious and appropriate, though I've never made them. It might be time to try. I'm also not sure I've ever had fiore sardo -- my cheese explorations were put on hold while I was broke -- but it sounds like something I'd like. Thank you!

8 oz. crumbled or grated cheddar
2 oz. other cheese
4 oz. butter
1 c. flour
1 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt

make like pie crust, only without water. roll em out, cut em up, sprinkle on herbs if you want, bake at 300 until done, maybe 10 minutes

Yes, it's a good movie. A little heavy, as you're probably aware. But worth seeing, and not just in the vitamin-pill sense.
