This is a bad sign in a book review:

"The events in which Kathy Boudin and David Gilbert participated left many painful questions....the question that I have the hardest time understanding: how could the parents of a baby drop the bundle of happiness off with a stranger in order to choose death over life?"

If the cliche "bundle of happiness" wasn't enough to set off your warning bells, here's another clue: the "stranger" she dropped her kid off with was her regular babysitter.

No shortage of creepy attitudes in that review. You've provided the pointer, I won't try to quote any...just reading it makes me want to go wash my mind out with something frank.

But I can't tell if the creepiness is coming from the author or the reviewer. Can you?

I happened to hear a brief interview with the author on NPR today, and she certainly didn't sound creepy in the same way. So I suspect it's the reviewer. But the author favors psychological explanations (which I loathe), so there's no way of really telling without reading the book.
