Preliminary Notes On The Gay Image

(I spent my morning looking at stock photos of guys. Guys with guys, guys on guys, guys alone, clothed and bare...)

1. Grooming counts.
2. Gay men* are allowed to smile when they're naked.
3. Gay men are also allowed to wear underwear.
4. They do not, however, play with toys.
5. Reverse cowgirl (cowboy?) still looks awkward.





* (or men who are posing for the gay gaze, if you prefer.)

Blink. So, straight ment aren't allowed to smile when they're naked?...

And yeah, the curves aren't quite right for making "reverse cowboy" look un-awkward.

A smile in porn says you know you're being looked at and you welcome it. And porn also definitely assumes (or at least privileges) a male gaze. So if you have a guy smiling in porn, then he is inviting the male gaze and thus must be gay. So, yeah.

Straight guys might be able to smile at their partner, but I don't recall seeing much of it. (Mr. Marcus is an exception that I can recall to mind, but he's memorable in part *as* an exception.)
