The meme bothers me, actually, but it bothers me in the way that I can't stop worrying a sore tooth.

So.

Do you envy me? Why?

This meme bothers me too. Mostly because I find it very uncomfortable to think that anyone would envy me anything and because I don't really envy other people. Regardless of circumstance most humans know joy and most humans know suffering. And without exception no one can intuitively "know" another's situation well enough to assume it is somehow "better."

I definitely experience jealousy from time to time but that's a different beast I think.

So no envy. Your joys are joyful to me. Your suffering is disheartening. I'm glad you're a talented writer who talks about both.

envy's in the eye of the beholder

I envy your writing talent and your openness/acceptance/comfort with sex and sexuality.

I find the meme awkward too. I don't envy you but I really respect the things you say, how level-headed you seem, and yet how passionate you also seem. Very intriguing. I think the meme would be more useful if it just came out said what do you like about me which, I think, is what its trying to get at.

Sometimes. Because you do things I would have liked to have done (write, make babies, edit). But my envy is a benign envy, with no desire for you not to have those cool things in your life.

something below envy, more mild, getting published, bks with yr name on it, and it used to be you not having to do the 9-5 go into an office thing. except now I'm not and I miss it.

Yes, part of the reason it bothers me is because of how uncomfortable it feels to imagine anybody envying me for something. This time I just chose to face that discomfort head-on.

No need for envy! You can have your own half-barrel!

Do I envy you? No, not really. I think you're cool and have a great life, but I'm personally content with myself and my own life.
