Crush about half-a-dozen whole peppercons into a tablespoon of honey, and swallow. It ought to soothe your throat and should temporarily ease the tickle, so you can heal some.
bear root, also called osha root tincture could help you here. if you can find it mixed w/ elderberry, even better. otherwise you can combine the two together.
Use a blender to whip together 1 cup OJ (fresh if you can get it), 1 T honey, 1 tsp fresh grated ginger, 2-3 cloves fresh peeled garlic, and a couple dashes of cayenne.
Best taken all at once, with more OJ as a chaser.
Also: hot steamy showers, with or without a sympathetic friend.
I use capsules of cayenne, garlic, ginger and horseradish - heavy dose three or four times a day, and lots and lots of water - I mean drink it 'til you slosh. Take enough to make you sweat - it will also loosen the gunk you're not coughing up. The annoying thing is that the best way to cure something like this involves briefly -intensifying- the symptoms in a controlled way, to get the crap out of your system, which after all is what your body is trying to do anyway.
