I want to do what the media conglomerates consider a mildly naughty thing and make a videotape from some DVDs. Is this going to be relatively easy to set up, or a major pain in the neck? Anyone want to help me out sometime, or offer pointers here? No rush.

(Grumble. I used to be good at this AV stuff.)

Addendum: never mind. Problem solved.

DVD -> VHS

As I understand it, it's either trivial or impossible without special equipment. If the DVDs have copy protection, you're pretty much SOL. If they don't, no prob -- just plug the analogue Out from the DVD player to the In jack of the VHS recorder. Good luck!

Caveat -- I only tried this once, and that was a long time ago. I may be forgetting something.

Turns out the point is moot, due to someone else's recent acquisiton of a dual VCR/DVD player where before they had only a VCR. Thanks, though.
