heading out of town
Dec. 19th, 2003 10:25 amOK, my dears, my final packing is commencing, so no more will I broadcast my mild anxieties about the next ten days all over LiveJournal. I'll still be in touch, because my parents are wired. If any particularly entertaining stories unfold, I promise to share. And my Chicago relatives are usually good for an anecdote or two -- they are totally nontoxic, but more than a little off the rails at this point.
I'm looking forward to seeing my brother. We hated each other as kids. we get along perfectly now. My CD collection is finally as impressive as his. And the poor boy's stuck in Indiana for the foreseeable future. He called last week and asked if we were exchanging presents. "If we are, it has to be cheap, because I'm broke." We managed to keep our conversation under an hour. (No, we're not doing presents. There is no tax levied upon seeing me in person.)
I'm looking forward to seeing the grizzled cat Licorice, who lives outdoors and has cataracts, and bites my elbow sharply with affection. She's ancient, and I expect each time I see her to be the last, but portly and brindled, she's waiting for me on the porch each time I head back home.
I'm looking forward to my mother's Christmas cookies.
I arrive at midnight in Lansing.
