What do you like to do with apricots?

I have a plan to bake them and serve them with some Greek yogurt and pistachios, but soon there will be more. And then more. And still more. I can always make jam, I suppose...oh, and I've been meaning to make some pork tenderloin for a while, so there's that. And, you know, the cobbler/crisp continuum. But still, other ideas?

Nah, the ultimate smoothie is orange juice plus vanilla goat's milk yogurt. But I'm willing to accept this as possibly the penultimate smoothie :)

I see Terra Firma has attacked you too. :)

We're going to make apricot cobbler, but I considered making apricot cake.

I've never had them last long enough for anything but eating out of hand. I have to try blue_estro's suggestion.

What do you like to do with apricots?

I like this best with nectarines, but it would work just as well with extra ripe apricots:

On really hot days I like taking a long cool shower while eating the fruit. I don't have to worry about the juice getting all over my clothes or trying to prevent my face and hands from getting all sticky. :}

I'm sorry I have no idea, I'm still thinking about the baked apricot with pistachios and greek yogurt.

I'm going to use the rest of the huge batch of Terra Firma apricots to make a salsa, I think. If [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy doesn't eat them all out of hand. I thought of braising the lamb shanks with them, but I went a different way.

I just started with Farm Fresh to You four weeks ago. I am a vegan and the "regular" box (delivered) is $29 and basically about enough food for me for a week. I heard Fat Belly Farm is really rockin' but they have a waiting list for the drop point two blocks from me.

How do you like Terra Firma?

I like it a lot. [livejournal.com profile] pantryslut recommended it. The quality is better than I got with Farm Fresh to You (not saying they're bad, just that we find this stuff to be of better quality), and I pay something like $21.50 a week, but it's going up soon, for a medium box. We get 8 or 9 items, and the total weight is usually around 11 pounds.

We two eat a lot of plant foods, so it's not nearly enough veggies for us for a week, but it ups the proportion of organic and local/regional foods we're eating, plus I just think it's fun to get the box every week -- it's like Christmas on Wednesdays.

Their website looks good - and it's a heckuva lot closer than Capay Valley. Just the other side of the hill from my childhood home, in fact... I might give it a try. Does anyone get referral credit with this CSA?

I never feel like I have an "excess" of anything with FFTY - so far. I did tell them to leave out some things -- I can get collards from a friend, I my boyfriend's garden is now wildly overproducing a mix of salad greens, I have perennial arugula and will be over my nips in tomatoes in a couple of months (I have 40 plants, boyfriend put in more than 24). I kinda lost control on the TomatoFest website and ordered 18 varieties of heirloom tomatoes.

...I'll see what the cancellation policy is with FFTY. I feel like I'm really missing out on summer produce. Had to go to Berkeley Bowl to buy organic cherries - today is the first time I got cherries in my FFTY box in the 4 weeks since I started.

-jam
-jelly
-chutney
-sorbet
-fruit crisp
-infused alcohol (hey - it can infuse for a long long long time until after you're done nursing or make great gifts)
- pie
- dried apricots (halve them and put them on a cookie sheet at the lowest setting in your oven)

...do you have an apricot tree? I'll trade you oregano, thyme and chard (when it comes in) for some apricots! :)

This I'm saving as I got apricots last week in my Full Belly Farm box and I'm guessing there'll be more to come.
