This question is courtesy the morning show at KFOG:

What music would you be surprised to find on my iPod?

I have pretty eclectic tastes, see, after all that time as a music reviewer and all...

My answer for the rest of you...

I would be surprised if you had Frederic Rzewski's Winnsboro Cotton Mill Blues on your iPod. But it would be very neato if you did because I really like Fred Rzewski's music.

I have to admit, I don't have this. But now I am intrigued...

Rick Astley and Holly Near came to mind.

1. Barry Manilow, or other 70s soft rock. (You have *good* taste, not bad!)

2. Serialism like Schoenberg or somebody. (You are not that weird!)

3. Anything medieval other than Gregorian Chant. (Somehow doesn't seem like you, but I can't say why.)

They are not on my iPod per se, but I do own both pre-serialism Shoenberg (Pierrot Lunaire) and a lot of medieval music. (I like polyphony.)

The only reason they're *not* on my iPod is that they work very poorly in "shuffle" mode...

Darn, only 1 out of 3.

I love the shuffle mode -- I was absolutely tickled by the weird juxtapositions when I first heard it.

Now, I can be superstitious and wonder why the iPod is in a Country-Western mood, or is focusing on Beethoven.
