The girls explore and observe their world--and I observe them.

Today, April spent much of lunchtime popping peas out of their skins. Developing her fine motor skills quite well, jots mom-scientist in her notebook. Then she grabs the broom.

When Maggie was a little over a year old, peas were her favorite thing. Her dad and I would be eating fried rice, and she'd toddle back and forth between us, and we'd feed her a pea, and she'd work at it in her mouth for a little bit, then with a delicate 'ptui!' she'd spit out the pea skin.

I didn't even know peas *had* skins til then.
