Grab Bag o' Update
Mar. 23rd, 2004 01:22 pmAnother bad habit: I swear like a sailor sometimes.
Last night, I made delicious, delicious, braised short ribs. Over mashed potatoes, garnished with julienned leeks. I am now officially in love with braising. Especially as I tend to do it in quantities that generate lots of leftovers. I think the bulk of the deliciousness in this case comes from soy sauce and chopped canned tomatoes, plus some star anise. I love star anise. It's silly-looking and it tastes good.
I promised some bits about this weekend. But now I'm not sure where to begin. It was a wonderful weekend. I spent much of it setting up, attending, and cleaning up after a sex party. I finally saw my butch trick while wearing something that was at least half-butch (tux jacket and shirt -- the white lace stockings, on the other hand...). I overcame my trepidation about wrestling G. in public (actually, that would be trepidation about being utterly humiliated by a superior opponent in front of my own damn party), and through dirty tricks, stubbornness, and guile, I managed not only to get in a few good licks, but, against all expectations, I won our little bout. I'd better savor it now, because I won't be getting too many chances like that in the future.
Best exchange of the night: Party Guest: "Did you get her back?" (referring to our antics at PPO a couple weeks ago) G: "Not exactly..."
I can almost hear the dramatic movie music building in the background as he plots his revenge. Little does he know, I have plans for him, too...
Finally, I learned this weekend that I can touch my toes now. I haven't been able to touch my toes since I was 12 -- I always thought that it was at least in part because of my knee issues, but apparently not. Look! Flexibility! It's best if I'm not wearing jeans while attempting it, though. Oof.

Comin' cold like vichyssoise
Shit! You can touch your toes???!!! I've never been able to, even in the best of shape during my high school track years. Damn, that's it! It's so on now.
I'll get you my pretty.
