So the diuretic I'm on for my blood pressure, which I loathe already for other reasons involving frequency of bathroom trips, says that you should consult with your doctor before taking if you a) take a lot of ibuprofin, or b) are allergic to sulfa. How about both? I stopped taking it this morning and will call my doctor Monday. I don't think it was very effective anyhow, but I'll be monitoring my blood pressure all weekend just in case.

Date: 2011-03-19 05:30 pm (UTC)I don't know which diuretic you were taking, but I have triamterene/hydrothiazide which I've been taking for over ten years (the first 20 years or so I managed my blood pressure by wishful thinking and good intentions -- that is, supposedly by diet and exercise, but I was not consistent, and my blood pressure stayed under control anyway). The excessive peeing mellowed out after a while. Relatively. I had sort of trashed my sphincter during Emma's 48-hour birth, so I have other issues in that area.
Anyways, there are lots of different diuretics that act differently, so you should be able to get a match.
