Once upon a time, I used to save cardboard boxes that packages had arrived in so that my cats could play in them for a while before I broke them down and set them out for recycling.

Now I am saving cardboard boxes for my children to play in for a while.

When I was a kid, my mom cut off the tops and bottoms of two boxes and my sister and I glued on pics of different modes of transportation. We ran around outside in our spaceship-car-truck-horse-bike-tractors.

Heh, my daughter's current favorite toys are an empty egg carton & the box her new table & chairs came in. Could not care less about the new stuff, just the boxes.n

For almost a year, I think, we had the box from one of the car seats installed in the living room as "the VIP room" before it got a little too ratty to keep.

Yay! Cardboard boxes are the best. My mom actually made me a playhouse when I was a kid--took the top off a card table, built a cardboard roof to fit over it, and sewed a corduroy roof and walls with vinyl windows etc that fit over it.
