Jul. 4th, 2011 03:26 pmToday for the Fourth we took the girls out to Middle Harbor Shoreline Park with their tricycles and let them ride around the paths. Simone proved to be a sprinter while April had the long-distance endurance. She rode all the way out to the "house" (observation spot) and back with me trailing.
It's amazing how much further I feel comfortable walking when my shoulder isn't fucked up and my feet don't hurt.
It was a fun time. We plowed through herds of geese (and accompanying goose poop), collected feathers, watched the sailboats on the bay, examined beetles and other insect life, got some sun -- and April, possibly a mild sunburn, despite generous sunscreen. The temperature was perfect, not too hot and a slight ocean breeze. Forgot a picnic, though. And I still need a sun hat.
