my children confound gender, redux
Jul. 21st, 2011 03:27 pmHere's a new one: It's hard to tell for sure due to the limitations of three-year-old speech, but I'm pretty sure Simone was mistaken for a femme boy today on the playground. (The term being used was "girl-boy"; it was the accompanying pronouns that clued me in.) For the record, she was wearing khaki shorts, brown sports sandals, an aqua-hued shirt with a pirate ship on it, a string of rainbow beads, and a pink bunny mask pushed up to sit atop her head like sunglasses.
