Outside my office window, the sun is shining brightly, glinting off the trim of the cars in the parking lot and the windows of the apartment building across the street.

And to the north, there is an enormous wall of deep gray cloud.

Where I grew up, this would mean, "thunderstorm." For some reason the storm systems always flowed to the north or south of us, and we'd catch just the edges.

But here in the Bay Area? I don't know what it means. The clouds look too dense for just morning fog, I would think.

I was walking up 12th St in Oakland this morning on my way to BART and I saw that huge cloud seemingly wedged between two tall office buildings and it freaked me out. It looked like tornado clouds in the midwest.

I miss tornadoes.
Being out here has rendered my weather radio into paper weight status.
Now I'm stuck trying to find good storm porn on the Weather Channel.
The rush of chasing a storm just to try and get a glimpse of a funnel cloud.

Thunderstorms I miss, but not tornadoes. Too many glass buildings with no basements (university buildings) in my childhood.

Rain.
In California it means rain, that's all. Unless you live in a trailer park.

B it didn't rain. That's the confusing part.
