Problem-solving, in dialog

Me: "Good idea."
SImone: "Can this be a house where we have to take off our shoes?"
Me: "You can pretend we're a house like that, yes."
Simone: "No, I mean for real."
Me: "Well, the problem is, Mommy has to wear her shoes inside. My doctor told me I had to wear shoes all the time, even inside. So we can't make this a house where you have to take off your shoes indoors because I need to wear my shoes."
SImone: "Oh. How about we make this a house where kids have to take off their shoes but adults don't?"
Me: "Check with your sister."
[Sister said OK.]
