I am trying to figure out how to articulate my feelings about a certain acquaintance who seems to feel compelled to comment any time he sees me wearing an article of clothing that might be described as pink. (Sometimes they are what I would consider pink, and sometimes they are what I would consider more magenta.) As if it were a joke: "Lori in pink!"
I definitely interpret it as an attempt at one-upmanship, gender policing, and putting me in my place.
I think, ultimately, I stand by what I said earlier this year: "Yeah, I'm butch enough to wear whatever color I want. You got a problem with that?"
