Nov. 16th, 2010 01:33 pmSo, as I am chronically behind in all things current events-wise, I am just now catching up on what's going on with James Frey these days.
Gotta love a guy who can simultaneously talk about breaking in brand new literary paradigms and transgressively going where nobody else dares to go, and wanting to hawk commercial ideas (that he bought off somesuckers aspiring writers) that will sell like hotcakes.
I do not think this is what is usually meant by that hoary and overused (esp. in this journal, sorry) canard about embracing the power of "and."
(More importantly, I think there is a difference between "shocking" and "transgressive" and it would be nice if more people picked up on it. Frey is excused b/c he's a con man.)
