Nice to remember that I do have limits
Jun. 17th, 2012 09:53 amSo, I was mildly traumatized by Mommy is Coming last night. I have a high tolerance for violation of taboo and I knew that something "transgressive and controversial" was coming so I was braced, and also, hello title! But, still. Dang. My seatmate, also a queer mom of preschool kids, was even more traumatized than I. We cowered in our seats, hands blocking the screen, as the rest of the audience hooted their approval. I am never going on a date in this town again.
I wouldn't mind a night at that Berlin sex club, though.
(Actual critical note: if they'd had more of the third-wall-breaking "interviews" in the latter half of the movie, I think I could have handled it better *and* it would have been a more interestingly layered movie thematically speaking. But alas. I have lots of other thinky thoughts too but you should probably ask me in person.)
