We have just learned that the father of Marius is the soldier that the foster father of Cosette dragged out of a ditch at Waterloo, 100+ pages ago. All that business with the gardener earlier should have prepared me for this aspect of Les Mis, where everyone puts in at least one second appearance, but no. Sometimes I'm slow.

Sometimes I imagine certain job postings like a plate of sushi on a sushi boat. Everywhere you look, you see that same job ad, bobbing down the stream toward you. You're pretty sure you don't want it, but you're going to see it three or four more times anyway, whether you like it or not. Sometimes you start to try to talk yourself into taking it, even, just because it seems so lonely. But jobs, unlike exotic sushi offerings, are usually not so lonely as all that in the end.
