While my lovely partner* wrangles with people on the phone who know less than he does about mail server configuration (heck, they seem to know less than I do -- why is emptying my Eudora outbox going to make any damn difference about the fact that I can't send mail?), let me take this moment to think of more pleasant things.

Like anchovies.

Fresh anchovies at the market yesterday! Of course I must eat them this evening at the very latest. But so many choices! Breaded and fried, broiled and dressed with lemon, stuffed with something...

I've never had fresh anchovies before, but they looked so bright and tasty at the fish counter -- and cheap too -- that I just had to.

* I admit to using [livejournal.com profile] imnotandrei's combined gender and geek privilege to get around the condescending "you're a girl, so of course you're a luser" vibe I (almost) always seem to run into whenever I have to wrangle with tech support. So sue me.

Anchovies: raw, marinaded in lemon (which kind of cooks them) and olive oil. :-)

Yum! I breaded and fried this batch (and they were delicious), but if they hang around the market and I pick up more, I will definitely try this.
