Whose names, whose ordering?

How do you decide which name to use? Does comino/cumin sort before or after coriander? What do you do with, e.g., Chinese spices with no commonly accepted English name? Transliterate (from which dialect?)? Collate separately from English, in radical/stroke-count order?

This is a very thorny question -- consider cayenne vs. red pepper as another example. (It's filed under "cayenne" as it is not really a pepper.) I personally do not have any Chinese spices with no commonly accepted English name in the round alphabetized spice jars; they tend to live in little plastic bags randomly strewn about the pantry.

Similarly, cumin is in an oversized jar and thus escapes rigid alphabetization. In other words, I cheat.

P.S. These sorts of questions just add to the procrastination value, you know.

And all this time
