Aug. 3rd, 2004 09:59 pmI forgot to note that, for my first day of work, I wore as a magical talisman the (unnamed) imitation cinnabar bead necklace that I bought from
elisem at WisCon this year. (I still have no holes in my ears so I did not wear the matching earrings.) It was a magical talisman because it represented the part of me that, um, doesn't fit well with corporate America? And there it was, in plain sight. So there. In fact, it got several compliments.
Other notes from the working world:
I already resent the fact that boys can be more casual than girls in terms of their work attire.
Why does this culture have to default to sandwiches when there are so many other interesting and quick things to do with food?
I do not think I will ever eat sushi from a truck.
Every day can be made a little better with some pickled turnips.
