Sep. 5th, 2004 10:51 pmBy the way, I am totally over having this damn cough. A week ago (OK, and a little less), it meant that I was sick. Now, it just means that my throat is a little ticklish. But it makes my lovers all concerned whenever they hear that bronchial bark that's a leftover from one too many bouts of pneumonia as a child. And I worry that it keeps them awake. And I can't take drowsy-making cold meds because they just dry everything out and that makes the cough worse. And I'm tired of sticky sweet cough syrup. And cough drops. And anything mentholated. Soon I will curse the name of tea with lemon as well. And handfuls of vitamins every day, ugh.
I must have the strongest diaphragm in the world by now, because it's sure been getting a workout.
My co-worker, the likely vector for this infection, has been taking codeine for her cough. Lucky insured wretch that she is. My co-workers have been making concerned sounds every time they hear me coughing -- after all, I stayed home sick early last week! "Are you feeling better?" They say, frowning. Not because they're worried they're next, but because they're Nice People and they work in the medical field.
Really. No fever. No phlegm. Just a dry cough. No big deal.
I wish it would take a hike already.
