dim sum memories

I took myself out to lunch at Yank Sing on Friday to make up for the fact that the rest of the office was getting paid to sit in a hotel banquet room, listen to boring speeches, and get some seniority trinkets.

It brought back a couple memories.

First, taking G. to Jade Villa earlier this year for his first dim sum experience. He said, "I'm glad you handled the ordering part, because I would have just asked for one of everything." How could I not love this man?

Second, and similarly, my friend Heather declaring, "I'll eat anything except innards, so if we get something and it turns out to have innards, it'll be yours." No wonder that I like her, too.

P.S. Jade Villa has the best shrimp dumplings that I've tasted in the Bay Area.

I love chitlins -- but fried, not boiled. (I made the mistake of getting them boiled once, ugh.)

I love yank sing. Friday I had a great fish taco at traci des jardin's new place at the ferry bldg.

I've really fallen in love with several of the East Bay dim sum houses; you should come over some time and try them.

And I will have to walk down to the Ferry boulding some lunchtime and check it all out. I love fish tacos!

I think there's an East Bay conspiracy to steal all the good Chinese food from San Francisco. The folks at Chowhound.com seem convinced that all the good Chinese Food is in Oakland or Berkeley or Albany. Isn't it enough that you guys already have all the pizza? What more do you want?
