pantryslutThe building that my temp agency is housed in must be the secret meeting hall of tall, grey-haired bears. I mean, you shoulda seen the two guys on the elevator with me. And the walrus moustache on the guy leaving the building just ahead of me!
I made tomato soup for dinner last night. Not just any tomato soup, but rich, deeply flavored, gourmet tomato soup with comino and peppers and toasted bread cubes and a quartered fig on top. Yes, you read that right, a quartered fig, and I cannot describe how delicious it was.
I ate it with a bologna and cheese sandwich made on white bread with Miracle Whip. 'Cuz I was having a craving. And it, too, was good. And the two worked together in ways that are probably obscene, but too bad. That's the kind of girl I am -- always a pervert, even with food.
I am sad that tomato season is over. Tomato dishes that I forgot to make this year include: the *other* tomato soup, BLTs. And I only made bruschetta once. Maybe I will be able to extend the season a little at the farmer's market this weekend. And I also have three wee tomatoes that didn't make it into the soup last night.

your tomato soup sounds amazing. figs are one of those ingredients that are surprisingly verstile. they go well with stinky cheeses, too.
to try to make (i had something similar to this at a restaurant, and have been drooling over the thought ever since): fig and blue cheese tart. mmm. proscuto would be good with it if one ate pork (i do not)
and --- its good to know another foodie who likes miracle whip :)
