I enjoy being a (part-time) girl
Oct. 20th, 2004 02:57 pmA few eeks ago, I intended to write a longish post about my recently more visible (yet still quirky and reserved for special occasions) girliness, how much I was enjoying it, and how that didn't mess with my overall gender.
But fuck it. All I really want to say is: a) I'm tired of the gender police in all its forms, b) I'll wear whatever the hell I please outside of office hours, c) I'm really amused at people who do double-takes when they see me in heels or other such accoutrements, d) no, I haven't gone femme, and if you think femme is all about what clothes you wear anyway, where have you been for the past twenty years or so of queer theory?
And also e), I need help deciding what to wear for Guerilla Femme Bar on Sunday. Suggestions?

Date: 2004-10-20 06:08 pm (UTC)Funny how we can talk all we want about how gender is problematized, and yet there's still a bias in the gender-Queer community toward mapping the old stereotypes onto the new forms.
