Today, I decided to take a walk before lunch, so I walked north for several blocks. Eventually, I reached the Transamerica Pyramid, at which point I thought it best to turn back. But I didn't get far -- just to the south were a maze of little closed-off alleyways with chairs and tables set out. I decided to investigate.
I ended up at a Mexican place, fancier than a taqueria but very much catering to the eat-and-go downtown lunch crowd. Its daily special was green pozole, which is what I ordered, because I really like hominy (pervert that I am).
So while what I got for lunch was very good, I was a little disappointed. Pozole, to me, means a lot of hominy, a little bit of meat, some garnishes, and good broth. This version had good broth, some garnishes, a little hominy, and at least a good pound of pork, plus some chicken, too.
But it was good. I just left a lot of meat in my bowl. I guess I was not the target audience.
