Nov. 23rd, 2004 04:28 pmHey kids,
As hinted at in a previous comment, I am toying with the idea of hosting a Hannukah gathering. In my world, Hannukah is an excuse to eat fried foods, especially the boy's favorite -- latkes (potato pancakes for the rest of you). Traditionally, we set guests to grating potatoes by hand (it's a Jewish Grandmother thing) and eat 'em with sour cream and applesauce until we have to be rolled home. Sometimes we even light candles.
If you hadn't guessed, this isn't a particularly reverent affair. But you gotta love a holiday that encourages you to eat foods cooked in oil.
Maybe someday we'll even work up to jelly donuts.
So, in honor of my new paid account, I thought I'd conduct a poll...
[Poll #390635]
(P.S. oops, December 11 shouldn't be there! Sorry!)

Date: 2004-11-24 12:58 pm (UTC)the recipe starts with peeled hard-boiled eggs, which are then rolled in flour and covered with a layer of ground sausage, then dipped in raw egg, rolled in breadcrumbs, and fried until golden brown. they're served they're described as "tasty warm or cold." if you're not eating them to-go, they're sliced in half i've never had them, but i've been on a hard-boiled egg kick lately, and this veggie scotch egg idea won't leave me alone.
