chopped salad
Mar. 4th, 2005 10:04 ammeanwhile, in other news...
A random thought this morning had me thinking that my writing is like chopped salad. Other writers lift big, sometimes recognizable chunks of their stories from their lives, and then modify them. Not me. I chop everything up and toss. There will still be recognizable bits (to those in the know, anyway), but they won't link up to other recognizable bits from the same real-life stuff.
I think sometimes this can be disorienting to the real-life folks who recognize their bits. Too bad. I'm not (usually) writing for them.
