You guys ask hard questions!

For lack of a better candidate, I'll name Liesel Mueller my favorite poet. I am also strangely fond of Stephen Dunn.

I always tell people that music critics are required to have one secret cultish love object, and that mine is Robyn Hitchcock.

This last question is the hardest -- only one memory? But the first one that leapt to mind was watching a summer evening thunderstorm sweep across the sky from west to east, horizon to horizon, just to the south of where I was standing on a balcony, watching.

I really don't like Olga Broumas all that much -- I recognize her talent, but her work leaves me cold.

Mules of Love is the one I own. I've read single poems from her other work, and I heard her read a selection of various pieces when she read at the SF Library in 2002.

One of my favorite pieces is the one where the book's title comes from. For My Daughter on Her Twenty-First Birthday. The book has quite a few pieces that I really enjoy, some bursting with whimsy, some heartbreaking.
