what is your favorite memory of michigan?"
For lack of a better candidate, I'll name Liesel Mueller my favorite poet. I am also strangely fond of Stephen Dunn.
I always tell people that music critics are required to have one secret cultish love object, and that mine is Robyn Hitchcock.
This last question is the hardest -- only one memory? But the first one that leapt to mind was watching a summer evening thunderstorm sweep across the sky from west to east, horizon to horizon, just to the south of where I was standing on a balcony, watching.
