I celebrated International Women's Day by being an international woman.

The best bit of writing advice I ever received was from Richard Kadrey at Clarion. It's not the kind of advice that fits well in a quotable aphorism, though. We talked about plot, and the mechanics of plot (b/c plot is a mechanical thing, like an engine), and raising the stakes, and stuff like that, and he walked me through some hypothetical examples using a story I'd written for the workshop. And it all made sense, and I walked away from our conference with a new tool and the know-how to use it, and it works. I Got Plot.

I hear that Berkeley school district gives Friday off! Kids are SO spoiled these days.

Celebrate - hrm - I guess I'll celebrate by going home and snuggling with my kittens. :)

merci, merci. ;) Plot, IME, is a hard thing to get got -- how excellent to have someone to work through it witcha.

My next question, should question hour re-emerge, shall involve requests for definitions and diagrams of "international woman." ;)
