I want to write a story about a modern female assassin who did not become what she is because of the horrific death of one or more of her parents. In fact, in this story, I want there to be a heartwarming, unstrained, loving scene with said assassin and both still-married, still-loving parents.

I don't think so. We did learn about O-Ren-Ishii's murdered parents, though. But I don't think we know anything about the families of any of the rest.

Bridal shower cake sounds dangerous to me. I shall make a note to avoid it lest I have unconventional story ideas ;)
