Will somebody please tell my why it is that when you do a global search and replace in Microsoft Word, it doesn't touch the headers?

I assume that stating the obvious about MS products is not a sufficient answer?

Necessary but not sufficient. "Why did they think this was a feature and not a bug?" might be a more accurate question, and I think the assumption behind it is warranted :/

If I told you, I'd have to, well, as a Quaker I'd have just not talk to you.

The body of the pages is one text flow, and headers and footers are a separate text flow. You can search headers and footers, but you have to do it on purpose separately from searching the body of the text.

Now, *why* anybody thought that was a good idea is a completely separate question, and not one I'm prepared to address. *sigh*

I know that, in somen circumstances I've encountered, the global search&replace does hit the header. What's up with this one?
