I am reliving my glory days as a music writer with two memes.

The first one was stolen from [livejournal.com profile] cnwb.

1. Total number of albums (CD/ cassette/ LP/ wax cylinder) I own:

I do not catalogue, so I'm not entirely sure. I think we last estimated around 600-800. It seems to stay steady at that point, as I try to cull stuff I'm not actively listening to any more.

2. The last album I bought:

Tékitoi by Rachid Mana. It's still on the kitchen table in its original cellophane.

3.The last album I listened to all the way through:

Probably Hannah Marcus' Black Hole Heaven, see below.

4.Five albums that I listen to a lot or that mean a lot to me:

a) Black Hole Heaven by Hannah Marcus. I find its song cycle to be very cathartic: starting in a dark, bitter place, moving through sorrow and into the light. I listen to it a lot when I'm emotionally upset because I find it very grounding.

b) Celebrity Skin, Hole. Another cathartic album when listened to the whole way through.

c) Eye, Robyn Hitchcock. This one balances emotional turmoil with both a delicate sort of beauty and a smidge of utter goofiness. What's not to love?

d) Is, Princess Superstar. This one is goofiness with surprising depth. And great wordplay. And a lot of naughtiness. So of course I have a soft spot for it.

e) London Calling, The Clash. Because it was formative, yo.

This one is stolen from [livejournal.com profile] maliceangst. Like her, ask me tomorrow and the answers will be different.

That's the first song of theirs I ever heard, but I really got hooked when a friend of my long-lost ex-girlfriend gave her a tape of their second(?) album, Circa.

I was thinking about my all time favorite albums today before I saw the meme. I've got to do this one, but it'll take a lot of thinking over.

I myself definitely did not answer in terms of "all time favorite albums." That would have been a lot harder, and I think a very different list.
