final foot news

pantryslutFor those of you who have been hanging on every word that is the drama of my left foot:
I went to the podiatrist for my follow-up appointment on Friday. He says everything is fine. He suggested I stay on the anti-inflammatories through the weekend, because I was going to do much beach walking. Which I did -- both the walking, and the anti-inflammatories.
Other than that, though, he pronounced me cured. No tenderness. No need for x-ray. No need for expensive orthotics. Call if you have a flare-up, he said, and we'll give you another cortisone shot.
I also bought myself a pair of, yes, Birkenstock sandals (the "Ibiza" style, for that rave hippie vibe, I guess) that I tried out this weekend as around-the-house shoes. Yeah, OK, I admit it, they're very nice to my feet. I might even -- gasp -- wear them to work tomorrow. Especially since Dr. Podiatrist frowned slightly at my regular sandals.
At least the uppers are black. Though not leather -- they're that new vegan leather substitute material. Not only do I have hippie shoes, I have vegan hippie shoes. Sigh.
