PPO and more
Mar. 17th, 2003 02:11 amI just noticed:
dryadgrl said some very sweet things about my performance at Perverts Put Out! last night. She's right, reading that story ("The Robber Girl") always makes me nervous, and the funny thing is that I'm not sure why. It's just intense. My throat constricts and my voice begins to crack.
I had a sore throat today. Probably not coincidence.
In other news, I ended up with a last-minute theater date tonight. Our dinner companions forgot that they had tickets to see the Berkely Rep's performance fof Fraulein Else; they had spare tickets, though, and invited us to join them.
(They also offered, like good hosts, to blow off the theater and just spend dinnertime with us, but in the end we got the best of both worlds.)
The lead actress, whose name I'm spacing on, wrote the adaptation herself (it's from a story by Schnitzler, the same guy who wrote the source material for Eyes Wide Shut -- but don't let that turn you off). I can't find my program to provide any relevant production details whatsoever, so you're just going to have to trust me that technically, the play was excellent, and that it was trying to do some difficult stuff -- and mostly succeeded.
I'm really glad I went. If for no other reason than to see this actress. Whose name I've forgotten. Argh. I don't see enough live theater, and I love it.
