While I'm Feeling Grumpy...

If I hear one more time someone say that Arnold Schwarzenegger "surprised" or "shocked" the "political establishment"/voters/Californians with his announcement that he's running for governor, I am going to puke.

Come on, people. I saw the promos for Jay Leno on Sunday night, the ones where Schwarzenegger was waving the American flag (literally) and smiling at the audience. I knew then that he was going to say "yes, I'm running."

Has everyone lost the ability to read media signs and portents, or what?

The media's been talking about it for weeks over here. I am terribly unsurprised by the announcement, just faintly appalled.

They've been talking about it for weeks over here, too, but rumor had him leaning against it. Thus the "shock" and "surprise."

Rumor also has it that he was waiting to hear Dianne Feinstein's decision, but I find the timing too dubious -- like I said, *I* knew on Sunday (OK, I confess, I was watching the restaurant reality show, whatever it's called), and Feinstein didn't announce until yesterday.

Maybe he was waiting for box office returns on T3. :P
