1. I need to incorporate some fitness movement-y things into my routine. Upper body especially, as I can always go walking (and do). Suggestions?

2. I would like to receive some e-mail today that isn't about WisCon and isn't an ad for an event, or for Mother's Day. (I love my mother, she will get her due.) This is unrelated to #1, above.

3. The lads are both home sick today.

4. I made semi-hippie chili yesterday. Semi-hippie b/c it was full of vegetables -- zucchini, bell peppers, one of those mildly spicy greenish peppers, onions, and beans, and meat, and spices. It was pretty yummy. It did not cure the lads' colds as intended, however. Patience is called for, I suspect.

1. There's always time for girl pushups against the desk or wall. The great thing about this is that you get to decide how much you can support at any one time. As someone with bad elbows, this is important. I also like doing crunches with the assistance of an exercise ball. Anyway. That's what I do.

we do a ton of upper body in circus class (on the order of about five different types of situps, and two differnt push ups, and other sundry forms of blissful self-torment). if you want me to show you some of the movements i'd be happy to.

No sit-ups, though. They hurt my shoulder. Which is another thing on the to-do list.

A boring answer is to carry hand-weights while you walk.

For a less-boring answer.... hmm. Gardening? Sex on top?

When I had a big plot of land I was digging up, gardening was great upper body workout material. Now that it's all in pots, not so much.

And sex on top, while always delightful, aggravates my RSIs when done in a fashion to enhance upper body strength. Alas. Damn wrists.

I'm sure someone has. We are so not the only 3.

I used to ball up my hands when I was on top, so I was resting my weight on my knuckles instead of my wrists, if that makes any sense. (My wrists are better, and the opportunity has not arisen for awhile, which is why I used the past tense. I don't know how I'd be now.)

there's a whole slew of different kinds of pushups that are fun. pullups are fun, and so are the tricep dips (which you can do at a picnic bench).

If you're looking for stuff you can do with weights or in a gym, lat pulldown, bench press, chest flyes, rows, etc are fun. as are bicep curls and shoulder presses in all their variants.
