1. Yesterday was my 13th anniversary with [livejournal.com profile] imnotandrei. We celebrate tonight, in our traditional low-key way.

2. Gripe of the day: my body is "well taken care of." It's just fat. 'K?

Happy Anniversary!

So - this would be the anniversary of standing up in front of someone and saying stuff?

Do you keep any other anniversaries from 6 years earlier?

(I ask b/c Bean and I have a plethora of "little" anniversaries, but no single "big" one. Although tell that to my mother, who has been sending anniversary cards since we did the stand-up thing 6 years ago. Which, fyi, was to celebrate the first 10 years. Which, fyi, was explicitely mentioned during the stand-up part. The Rabbi worked it into the ceremony. Of course. She's great.)

Since the day we met was two days after Steven's birthday, we usually subsume that moment into birthday celebrations. That's the only other occasion that would really warrant such a marker (except when we moved in together, I guess, but that *also* happened right around his birthday).

G. and I made a deliberate decision to celebrate one of several options as our "official" relationship anniversary.

I should also add that we have a hard enough time remembering our actual legal anniversary that we hesitate to add to the celebration calendar :)

Well, I can't *tell* you how happy that makes me. No, really. That's a good, healthy attitude.

Our stand-up was on 7-14. Not only Bastille Day, but also the anniversary of the day Bean's mother left Bean's father (for all sorts of good reasons). And no, that wasn't deliberate. It was just the way the timing worked out.

Can you share which anniversary you & G use? (Do you & S have some "official" date, or are you just very low-key about it all, and save all your oomph for Escape From the House day?)

I keep remembering every year that Steven and I managed to get legally hitched on my mother's birthday. (Happy birthday, mom!) Also, my grandparents' anniversary is the same as my birthday.

Steven and I are just very low-key about it all. We had a big party for our 10th anniversary, and will probably have another for our 20th.

G. and I celebrate the occasion of his two-month belated birthday "kidnapping," which I was invited to be a part of shortly after we were introduced.

[livejournal.com profile] papersky and I first got together on my birthday, which makes it very easy to remember; and come quite close to getting married on my sister's birthday.

PS: Number 2 is cryptic. Is it missing a "not" somewhere?

Nope. As a part of my day job, I read many personals, and I am suddenly seeing many cases of "I seek someone with a body that is well taken care of" used as a euphemism for "no fatties."

Oh.

Sigh.

Is this better or worse than "height/weight proportionate"?

(And wouldn't it be nice to see one that says "I seek someone with a body that is well-used" instead?)

I seek someone with a body that is well-used

I'd reply to that!

P.S. It's on a par with "fit."

I think you should send back "I see my doctor four times a year, my collection of slaves of both genders oils me weekly, and my personal masseuse says I'm beautifully relaxed. Well-taken-care of, no?"

(I know, you're not responding to them. It's just tempting.)

Also, it would be lying :)

Yeah, but on the internet nobody knows your personal masseuse is a dog.

(And I bet you could recruit people to rub you all over with oil!)

Well, damn that not feeling safe coming into the US thing.

I'd worry that it meant waxed and with no fur.
