TV, VCR, DVD, Punt
Nov. 19th, 2003 02:10 pmMy TV-and-accessories setup is driving me crazy. I can't figure out how to hook things up so that I can have both cable and a working VCR.
This is becoming an issue because I am on deadline for AVN, so I really need a working VCR, at least.
I've tried every configuration of cables that make sense, and some that don't. Late last night it seemed that even if I abandoned all VCR hopes for the moment and just plugged the DVD and TV into the wall and each other, that wouldn't work. No picture. No nothing.
It was working in a crotchety sort of way until a week ago, when we tried to tape something off the TV, and our set-up didn't allow that. So we changed something, and it still didn't work, and now I can't get a picture from the VCR either.
And of course neither of us (
imnotandrei and I) remember what it was we changed. Since it was wrong in the first place.
This all worked in the old house. Did I draw a diagram then? No, of course not.
The most frustrating thing of all is that this should be simple. It says in, out, in, out. If I follow the logical progression, though, it just sits there, inert, the whole system.
Anyone wanna come to my house and be manly (or womanly, or otherly; I'm not picky) with cables? Or offer virtual advice?
Fritzi has offered to help by chewing off the cable that's attached to the wall, as it is obviously vexing us.
