1) I read smut on Saturday night, at the Haiku earring party. I have mixed feelings about how it went. In retrospect, I should maybe have read some things less "difficult." Do I have anything that is less difficult? I don't know.

I loved Hanne Blank's story, though, the one that's going into the book that she and I are in.

2) It is a little odd that I ate as well in Madison in one short five-day stretch as I can at home in the Bay Area. L'Etoile in particular is becoming one of my favorite restaurants anywhere, due to their menu, philosophy, *and* their service. And, you know, the cheese. It is especially nice to go on Friday night and then to the farmer's market on Saturday morning and buy the same cheese you met and fell in love with less than 24 hours before.

Menu notes to follow when I've unpacked it. Right now, I will just say: bison carrpaccio. And doughnuts for dessert.

3) I have a small platonic crush on Sharyn November, and it is based entirely on this: she behaves exactly the way people imagine that I do.

The temptation to smirk and stay mysteriously quiet otherwise is quite strong here. Just sayin'.

Did anyone get a picture of you with Ellen's stockings on your head?

bzzt not the correct answer.

Did anyone get a picture of you with Ellen's stockings on your head?

yes.

yes.

I want a copy.

To give you as honest an answer as I can to your original question, without you knowing me all that well, is difficult. You take up space unapologetically. You're blunt but fair. You have a great narrow-eyed smirk.

I'm going to give you a solid "ooh, maybe" on going to L'Etoile next year together.

I haven't eaten in the hotel in forever (OK, since I gave up the writer's workshop and no longer eat lunch there on Friday afternoon). Do they still have pickled herring at the salad bar? That made me all swoony.

I loved your reading...Mr Clean yo! As for SN, I love her too...she is made of awesome though apparently, a lot of people hate her guts and I am not really sure why.

The same reason that *we* think she is made of awesome, of course!

I'm glad you liked the reading. Thank you.

Oh, is Mr. Clean what you read? That's not "difficult," that's inspiring. And very, very funny.

JMHO, of course.

Mr. Clean was one of the two things I read. The other one you haven't seen yet.

I was pondering L'Etoile and their 18 course cheese menu but I got distracted by shiny.

I think your reading went well, but noise from the hallway and other conversations were distracting to people no sitting as close as I was.
