Win £500 in the LoveHoney Erotic Fiction Competition!

Attention erotic authors! Win cash and get your sexy story published in the new LoveHoney erotic writing awards

Ever thought you could write a sexy bestseller? Are your stories so steamy they’d make Belle De Jour blush? Then you should enter LoveHoney.co.uk’s new Erotic Fiction Awards. As well as being an unmissable opportunity to reveal your erotic writing talents, you could win a cash prize and see your story in print!

“The Literary Review has been handing out the Bad Sex in Fiction Award for a good few years now, so we thought it was time people were encourage to write some good sex,” says LoveHoney’s erotic fiction expert Bonny Hall. “But the added twist is that every story must feature a product that LoveHoney sells - it’s the Bulgari Connection for sex toys!”

Named in honour of Fay Weldon’s product-placement novel, The LoveHoney Vulgari Award for Erotic Fiction is open to anyone aged 18 and over. Judged by a panel of men and women, including a previously published erotic novelist, a former commissioning editor for Nexus Books and LoveHoney's erotic books buyer, the competition requires that all stories must involve at least one of the sex toys available from www.LoveHoney.co.uk

“LoveHoney.co.uk sells more than 8,000 products so entrants won’t be stuck for ideas,” says LoveHoney’s Bonny Hall. “From a rabbit vibrator saving your life to the erotic possibilities of a love-triangle with a sex doll, there are plenty of products to get the creative juices flowing.”

There are two categories in the LoveHoney Vulgari Awards: one for longer erotic stories (3,000 to 5,000 words) with a £500 cash prize for the winner and two runner-up prizes of £100, and another for quickies - shorter stories (500 to 800 words) with a first prize of £100 of LoveHoney sex toys and £50 of sex toys for two runners-up.

LoveHoney has created a special Web site with full details on how to enter, as well as writing tips and more information for anyone interested in getting their erotic stories published. Go to: http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/erotic-story-competition/

BEST BI SHORT STORIES
Deadline: December 1, 2007
Editor: Sheela Lambert, info@biwriters.org

We are seeking stories that illuminate something about the experience of being bi. Stories can focus on relationships, romance, dating and sex, of course, but we’d like to see more than that. We’d like to see stories about relationships with parents, relatives or children…Passover Seder anyone? We’d like a bi military story, a bi same-sex marriage story, a senior citizen story, a job discrimination or acceptance story, a story about a bisexual pet…from the pet’s point of view. We want to see bi athletes, bi cowboys, bi action-heroes, spies, super-heros and vampires. Bi friends go to a movie, bump into their exes who dumped them, and hold hands; pretending to be on a date. A bi artist struggles to finish a painting. A bi person has a spiritual vision. A bi transsexual teacher who leaves for summer vacation as Don and comes back on the first day of school as Donna. All genres such as fantasy, science-fiction, romance, historical, mystery, western, vampires, etc. as well as contemporary fiction are encouraged. Semi-autobiographical events written in short story format with names changed are welcome. Sex scenes in the context of a story are fine but this is literary fiction: erotica not accepted.

Requirements & Publishing Info
There is no pre-set maximum story length, we would accept even 100 pages if it was amazing. A chapter (or chapters) of an unpublished novel may be submitted if it can stand alone. Title page of manuscript should have in the upper left corner: Story title & author's pen name (or legal name if the same) on first line. Author's legal name, email address, street address, phone number and genre of story below. If story has been published anywhere before, please state when and where. Submit as attachment along with bio to info@biwriters.org. Your bio/author’s statement should specify whether you are bi and if not, say what led you to write a bi short story.

Mixed Fruit: Writings from Multi-racial Queer Communities
Deadline: May 15, 2007

Editor is looking for original essays and poems that address the specific
experiences of multiracial and queer identities in a broad range of topics. How do mixed queers experience "passing" in regards to our racial/ethnic backgrounds, our sexualities and our genders? How do the experiences of our multi-racial families effect our genders and sexualities? What are the ways other identities play into being mixed race/transracially adopted and queer (such as being parents, being differently abled, immigrants, etc.). How does being "othered" in regards to race apply to being "othered" in regards to gender and sexuality?

WHO CAN SUBMIT? People who identify as mixed race/multi-racial, mixed blood, transracially adopted and/or identify with mixed cultures (such as mestizo and Creole) AND who identify as lesbian, gay, two-spirit, bisexual, mahu, bakla, transgender, intersex, joto, or any "queer" identity.

Submission Guidelines: More than one piece may be accepted and submissions may be made in multiple categories. Nonfiction: Maximum 2 pieces, up to 6,000 words each. Creative non-fiction, interviews and essays will all be accepted. Poetry: Maximum 5 poems, 5 pages or less per poem. All submissions must be typed and double-spaced. Please send submissions by mail only.

Compensation: Contributors will receive one copy of the anthology and
