1. My job has settled down a bit. Good. I now can tell you what I'm doing and have the hope that next month, it won't be different. Also, it's still a lot of fun when I'm left alone to do it. Also keeping me very busy.

2. I'm working on that thing again. Eh. I am morose about it at the moment.

3. I just took on a bunch of (short) freelance assignments that I hope will be mostly fun, to counterbalance the moroseness. At least I know I can write nonfiction.

4. I have been attending a lot of readings, but not as many as I would have liked. I'm sorry if I missed yours.

5. I've been going on a couple dates here and there with some lovely and charming companions and enjoying myself very much. I expect this to continue for a little bit.

6. The days are getting shorter again.

7. I'm cooking. Nothing fancy yet -- regular old rustic tomato pasta sauce with the first tomatoes of the season; noodles with peanut sauce and coconut milk, that sort of thing. It's all very yummy, but hardly worth mentioning, really. On board: pork chops with apricots, grill food.

8. I had an idea last night. I think it's a good one.

9. I have a reading in a week. And then a reading in about a month. So why again am I morose?

10. I miss you. It's strangely lonely, working down here and living in Oakland and being so busy. I miss the city. It's easy for me to get to, though. Plus, lots of you are where I am. Let's hang out?
